On Thursday, the Government of India has issued the new information technology rules 2021. This new rules include mediator guidelines as well as digital platforms ethics. However, there is still time in putting these rules into action. Also, the government is focusing and putting it’s steps forward to ascertain message’s initiators. Which points out certain social media platforms like WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, etc. will have to end the end-to-end encryption feature as for the new issued rules.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Ravi Shankar Prasad on the same day said that if the messages is not being originated in India then the company will have to inform the government that who so ever in India has received it first. According to the reports, earlier also WhatsApp had refused to accept the government’s request of identifying the originators.
On one hand during the press conference on Thursday, the Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the apps will not need to break the end-to-end encryption. Also on the other hand it is difficult to say if the new rules set by the government could be followed without doing so or not. Also adding to that, Prasad said that the government only wants the originator’s name rather than the message.
Will Apps agree to follow the new rules or will it refuse?
After the announcement of these new guidelines Facebook is set to follow the upcoming rules. Facebook said that the company will willingly follow the rules and respect the government’s decision. Also the spokesperson of Facebook said that the company will ensure that this platform contribute in digital transformation of India.
This is not the first time that the government is asking such platforms to do so. Earlier also the government warned and had asked the companies to come up with the solution of tackling this issues. Although WhatsApp is nowhere willing to entertain such rules. Also this will be engrossing to see the further decision of all the social media platforms. This could be possible that if the Apps refuses to follow the new rules and regulation it may get banned in India.
